Initializing

To those who may choose to stop by once and to those who may linger a while, here are a few thoughts on why I’m going to spend the time putting up yet another blog, the value I hope to get out of it and the incremental value I hope to generate for those who read it.

What you’ll find here are my thoughts on a few subjects that interest me: Technology and entrepreneurship, venture investing, gadgets, sports, music and culture and an occasional foray into public policy. Ultimately I think these subjects are actually very interconnected (sports perhaps the least so, although I find the parallels in community building between professional sports and the nascent social internet to be of great interest and potentially very useful), and I hope to use this space here to explore some of these interstices when interesting events take place or stories emerge that highlight some of these issues.

Briefly about myself, since you may wonder why this is worth your time (this information is also on the About page, but I’ll put it here too): I’m a 31-year-old guy living in New York City. I am working on several startup ventures, I work part-time at a VC fund and I’m enrolled in Columbia Business School’s MBA program. I’ve founded and run two technology ventures, have worked as an attorney in Silicon Valley, have worked at a non-profit, been a consultant and was briefly a producer of theater.

I think the internet is just getting started in its transformative progression and that enormous opportunity remains in current sectors and those yet to evolve. I think the “user-generated” or “social’ web is for real. I think life fifteen years from now will be as different as our current lives are from 1992, and I’m looking forward to it.

I look forward to using this opportunity to engage with others around the world who are interested in the same questions I am.
